FCNA Picnic and Parade
July 4, 2009

Again the parade was led by a City of Vancouver fire engine ( one of the few city departments to make house calls) from Fishers Landing school to Fishers Creek Park. The diverse parade ranged from little toddlers to bike riding adults, wagon riders, and parental walk alongs. An estimated 300 plus participated in the parade. A glorious sight to behold. Thanks Jennifer Maddox and Kris Miller for coordinating the parade!

Picnic - A traditional fare of hot dogs, chips, cookies and a drink were provided - the cost was FREE to participants! Our Dump Day donations and the donation assistance from QFC covered the cost. Recall YOUR Neighborhood Association FCNA has NO dues and relies on volunteers and donations to host this type of event. For the 2nd year Bounce house activities were provided under the direction of Steven Haygood. Thanks Steven!! An estimated 425 participants attended the picnic! So many volunteers helped make the picnic run smoothly- thanks Volunteers!

Planting at the Park
January 14, 2006

Volunteers from as far away as Seattle planted over 200 native plants in Fisher’s Creek Park on Saturday January 14. Cool temperatures, grey skies, and, at least initially, a light drizzle did not prevent an estimated thirty adults and children from participating in the work. The event was made possible by a grant from the City of Vancouver. Success was made possible by the enthusiastic participation of the volunteers. Ryan Durocher, Urban Forestry Outreach Coordinator for Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation made the arrangements for purchase and delivery of the plants and mulch.

Pastries were provided by FCNA. And coffee, both regular and unleaded, was provided by our local Starbucks After a brief orientation on the benefits of trees the volunteers joined crew leaders to plant natives in predetermined positions. Colored flags were used to mark the locations for each of the dozen or so species that were planted. Plants were chosen to fit in with those already growing in the park.
